In a tightly contested game, the Columbus East boys' basketball team fell just short of a comeback, losing 67-61 to Mooresville at the Orange Pit on Tuesday night. Facing a 12-point deficit in the 2nd quarter, the Olympians, led by Keaton Lawson and Carter Patterson, narrowed the gap to three points, trailing 33-30 at halftime. Although the O's briefly took the lead at 39-37 in the 3rd quarter, a strong run by Mooresville shifted the momentum, ending the quarter with the Pioneers ahead 52-43. Undeterred, the Olympians fought back, closing in at 60-58 with a minute remaining. Mooresville's clutch baskets extended their lead back to 64-58, but Mason Reeves' three-pointer brought the Olympians within three points with 15 seconds left. Despite their efforts, the O's had to foul, and Mooresville secured the win with free throws, ending the game 67-61. Despite offensive challenges, the Olympians showcased resilience through hustle, defensive pressure, and their trademark never-give-up style of play. The Olympians (4-9) will face the Jeffersonville Red Devils (9-6) in a Hoosier Hills conference battle this Saturday in Jeffersonville, IN. Scoring for the O's: Ethan Bumbalough - 5 points Carter Patterson - 20 points Keaton Lawson - 23 points Jackson Fischvogt - 10 points Mason Reeves - 3 points
