Columbus East High School

The Columbus East Olympians competed in one of the premier tournaments in the State of Indiana, the 45th Annual Al Smith Classic hosted by Mishawaka High School. The Olympians scratched and clawed their way to a 6th place finish in the 32-team two-day invitational. The tournament featured some of the top teams in the state in the 4A division, along with other ranked team in the 3A-1A divisions. Talon Jessup led the way for the Olympians with a 2nd place finish at 106 lbs., along with a 6th place finish by Gage Rutan, a 5th place finish by Caleb Kirkpatrick at 138 lbs., 8th place finish for Nate Anderson at 150lbs., 8th place finish for Lincoln Cooper at 157lbs., and Colin McMahon an 8th place finish at 190 lbs. The Olympians were in the 4th place position to start Saturday's wrestling and missed the 5th position by .5 of a point on Saturday, settling for a 6th place finish.
