The Columbus East Lady Olympians faced a challenging back-to-back basketball weekend, starting with a Friday match against Mooresville and a quick 90-minute drive to Corydon, IN, to take on the formidable 3A Corydon Central Panthers on Saturday evening. Despite time constraints and a previous loss, the Lady O's, led by Coach Phillips, demonstrated unwavering determination throughout the weekend. In the first half against Corydon, the Lady O's encountered difficulties, trailing by 16 points at halftime. Senior Jenna Guse faced early foul trouble, further complicating matters. However, the second half saw a remarkable turnaround as the O's, fueled by renewed energy, aggressively chipped away at the Panthers' lead. They narrowed the gap to 8 points in the fourth quarter, displaying resilience and a refusal to concede. The final score, 50-38 in favor of Corydon Central, doesn't fully capture the Lady O's second-half comeback effort. Despite statistical challenges, including turnovers and shooting struggles, individual players shone in their efforts. K. Carothers, M. Pope, C. Frost, M. Trapp, J. Guse, V. Cuduhar, and K. Cheek each contributed to the team's performance. Individual Player Stats: - K. Carothers: 8 points, 2 three-pointers, 2 steals - M. Pope: 7 points, 1 three-pointer, 5 rebounds, 2 assists - C. Frost: 7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals - M. Trapp: 6 points, 11 rebounds, 1 steal - J. Guse: 5 points, 1 three-pointer, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist - V. Cuduhar: 3 points, 1 three-pointer, 1 steal - K. Cheek: 2 points, 1 steal, 1 assist
