The Columbus East girls soccer season came to an end Tuesday night with a 9-0 defeat against crosstown rival Columbus North in the opening round of the IHSAA Class 3A Sectional at Whiteland High School. Facing a ranked Bull Dogs squad, Columbus East stayed competitive early on, holding North to four goals through the opening half. Columbus North took complete control early in the second half, scoring three goals within the first eight minutes to put the match out of reach. North controlled possession of the ball throughout the match, outshooting East 40-0 with 27 shots on target. Goalkeeper Addy Grebel provided a strong effort in net for East, turning away 18 shots on the night, including a penalty kick save. While the final scoreline was heavy, the team showed noticeable organization and steady structural improvements following mid-September leadership changes under their new head coach, Ethan Graman. The Olympians displayed a higher level of work rate and team cohesion down the final stretch of the schedule. Gratitude goes to the team's seniors, whose continuous hard work, resilience, and commitment guided the program through a tough, challenging season.
