Columbus, IN - On a picture-perfect Saturday afternoon at the BCSC Soccer Complex, the Columbus East boys soccer team gave their senior class a celebration to remember. Feeding off the energy of Senior Day, the Olympians delivered a sharp, energetic performance on the pitch, earning a decisive 3-1 victory over the visiting New Albany Bulldogs. The crucial win vaulted Columbus East into second place in the Hoosier Hills Conference. Before kick-off, the program honored six standout seniors who have made immense contributions both on and off the field throughout their high school careers: Ryder Meek, Jordan Hofelich, Miguel Ferrer, Nicolas Moran, Josh VanValkenburg, and Andres Contrares. Their leadership, hard work, and commitment set the tone for an emotional and high-stakes conference matchup. Once the whistle blew, Columbus East’s attack created pressure and consistent scoring opportunities. The Olympians found the back of the net thanks to goals from Ronan Maier, Ethan Glick, and Devrenson Zephirin. The playmaking was equally impressive, with Glick and Liam Maier dishing out key assists to unlock the Bulldogs' backline. Columbus East controlled the tempo and offensive flow throughout the contest, outshooting New Albany 10-6. On the defensive side, senior goalkeeper Ryder Meek anchored the backline with three critical saves, shutting down New Albany's threats to ensure the senior day victory. It was a complete team effort from start to finish—and a fitting tribute to a senior class that continues to leave a lasting legacy on the Columbus East soccer program.
