Columbus East High School

The Columbus East girls golf team capped off a memorable campaign on Saturday, competing in the IHSAA Regional Golf Tournament at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin. Hosted by Franklin Community High School, the high-stakes field fought for a spot at the State Finals, where only the top three teams and top three low individual scorers from non-advancing teams earned advancement. Center Grove captured the regional title with a team score of 315, followed by Floyd Central (337) and host Franklin Community (339) to claim the three team qualifying spots. The Olympians finished 15th overall with a team total of 439, officially bringing their 2026 season to a close. Junior Abby King led the way for Columbus East on the day, turning in a team-best round of 96 with balanced 48s on both the front and back nines. Senior Calleigh Gill followed with a 105, while sophomore Emma Gill carded a 118. Junior Sophia Perez posted a 120, and freshman Brynn Wendel rounded out the team score with a 128. While the Olympians did not advance to the State Finals, earn a regional berth was a testament to the team's determination and perseverance. Week after week, the team showed steady growth, playing their best golf when it mattered most and proving what hard work can achieve. As the season comes to a close, the program extends a heartfelt thank you to senior Calleigh Gill. Her solid leadership, steadfast dedication, and positive influence guided the Olympians throughout the year, leaving a lasting mark on her teammates and the program as a whole.
