BATESVILLE -- The Columbus East boys soccer team secured a decisive road victory Saturday morning, blanking the Batesville Bulldogs 3-0. The Olympians' offense was firing early, with Josh VanValkenburg netting the first goal of the match for the Olympians off an assist from Dervenson Zephrin. Drew Dobbs then took control of the scoreboard, netting a pair of goals to seal the shutout win. Dobbs' goals were assisted by Ronan Maier and Miguel Ferrer, moving the Olympians' record to 5-2-5 on the season. The Final Push: The Olympians now return to Columbus for a three-match homestand to close out the regular season, with massive Hoosier Hills Conference implications on the line. > On Tuesday, September 22nd, the O's host Floyd Central in a pivotal conference matchup. > On Saturday, September 26th, East continues conference play at home against the New Albany Bulldogs. > On Monday, September 28th, the regular season concludes with a massive non-conference showdown against the Bloomington South Panthers, who currently hold the #1 spot in the 3A ISCA Boys Soccer poll. Following the regular-season finale, the Olympians will turn their attention to postseason action. IHSAA Sectional play is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 5th at East Central High School.
