Columbus East High School

The crosstown rivalry on the golf course belonged to Columbus East on Tuesday night. The Olympian girls golf team put together a strong performance at Harrison Lake Country Club, beating crosstown rival Columbus North 202–214 to wrap up their regular season. East built an early lead on the challenging Harrison Lake course and held on for a comfortable 12-shot victory over North. The night was highlighted by Emma Gill, who shot a team-low 43. Gill’s personal-best score set the tone for the Olympians and led all golfers on the scorecard. The team's depth made the difference in securing the win. Abby King shot a solid 47 to give East two scores in the 40s. Calleigh Gill stayed consistent throughout her round to add a 51, while Brynn Wendel and Sofia Perez both turned in matching scores of 61 to round out the varsity total. Finishing with a team score of 202 gives the Olympians plenty of confidence heading into the postseason. Winning a tough crosstown matchup to close out the regular schedule provides crucial momentum as East prepares for the IHSAA tournament, which begins on Monday, September 21st.
