NORTH VERNON, Ind. — The Columbus East Olympian girls golf team earned a 6th-place finish at Monday’s Hoosier Hills Conference tournament at St. Anne’s Golf Course, hosted by Jennings County High School. Highlighting the team's strong afternoon, all four counting scores for the Olympians established brand-new personal bests in tournament play. Columbus East Individual Leaderboard Abby King paced the squad with a team-low score of 88 (44 front / 44 back). Calleigh Gill and Emma Gill matched each other stroke-for-stroke, both posting 95s (45-50 and 46-49, respectively). Sofia Perez provided the key fourth counting score with a 109 (53-56), while Brynn Wendell completed the lineup with a 121 (61-60). Hoosier Hills Conference Team Standings Floyd Central claimed the conference crown with a team score of 311, followed by New Albany as runner-up. Bloomington South also competed on the course and carded a 375; however, their scores did not factor into official team standings, as the Panthers will officially join the Hoosier Hills Conference next season. Tee-off is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. Following tonight's dual, Columbus East will pivot to postseason action when the IHSAA Sectional tournament begins on Monday, September 21st, hosted by Bloomington North High School.
