At Stafford Field at Bob Gaddis Stadium on Friday night, the Columbus East Olympians treated their matchup as an exercise in efficient system execution. Facing an opponent unable to establish offensive rhythm, Columbus East operated with calm composure, securing a 46-0 victory that highlighted team depth across both the backfield and quarterback positions. The Olympians set a steady tempo early through versatile offensive playmaking from sophomore Owen Hatfield. Splitting time between running back and quarterback duties, Hatfield proved difficult to contain in the red zone, finishing the night with 92 rushing yards on 12 carries and crossing the goal line for four touchdowns. His ability to finish drives provided Columbus East with immediate control of the line of scrimmage. Under center, Columbus East displayed smooth distribution through a two-quarterback rotation. Junior Kam Combest directed a highly efficient passing attack, completing 11 of 13 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown. When sophomore Gavin Wilcox took over signal-calling duties, the offense maintained its cadence, as Wilcox went 6-for-9 for 80 yards and a passing touchdown of his own. Jackson Miller served as a primary target in the air, catching five passes for 91 yards and a touchdown while also handling placekicking duties. Connor Fudge added big-play distance downfield with four receptions for 86 yards, complimented by steady receptions from Carson Gallion (three catches, 47 yards) and Paxton Thompson (three catches, 44 yards). Miles Broaddus hauled in a 27-yard touchdown reception from Wilcox, while Asher Scott chipped in a first-half rushing touchdown. Defensively, the Olympians completely neutralized the opposition. Columbus East held the Panthers to minus-14 yards rushing and just 36 yards passing. The effort marked the second consecutive game where the Olympian defense held its opponent to negative rushing yardage, capping off a thorough shutout performance. Rather than relying on high-stakes heroics against a struggling opponent, Columbus East focused on clean fundamentals, balanced distribution, and positional versatility to navigate the contest efficiently from start to finish. The Olympians will now spend the week focusing on another HHC opponent, the New Albany Bulldogs, who they will visit Friday, September 18th. Kickoff time: 7 p.m.
