The Columbus East Olympians capped off an action-packed week in dominant fashion Wednesday night, sweeping Hoosier Hills Conference rival Jeffersonville 25-11, 25-13, 25-22 inside the Orange Pit. Playing their third consecutive match in as many nights, the O's showed zero signs of fatigue. Columbus East came out swinging early to claim a decisive opening set and never looked back, rolling to their third three-set victory this week. Beyond the victory, the night carried extra meaning as Columbus East honored lone senior Cadence Smith for Senior Night. In a display of sportsmanship, the Olympians also recognized Jeffersonville’s senior players, including a Red Devil who shared the floor with Smith for two years of travel volleyball. Smith saved one of her finest performances of the season for her special night, coming through with timely blocks, clutch plays, six kills, and three aces to energize the home crowd. Addy Dean spearheaded the Olympian attack with a stat-sheet-stuffing performance, racking up a team-high 11 kills, three blocks, four aces, and five digs. Setter Jillian Chapple orchestrated the offense with 15 assists, supported by Kenlee Gault’s seven assists. Defensively, Kadence Miller anchored the back row with 14 digs while adding three aces at the service line. Ava Tartt delivered a balanced night with five kills, six digs, and three aces, while Shelby Williams notched five digs and Emma Armstrong turned away shots with two blocks at the net. After a long week of volleyball, the O's get a few days to practice before heading south to play in the always tough, Providence H.S. Early Bird Tournament. This tournament features several powerhouse teams, the host team ranked #10, #12 Roncalli, #27 Center Grove, #34 Cathedral, and #35 Jasper to name a few. As the tournament name suggests, it will be an "Early" challenge for the Olympians.
