The Columbus East boys' tennis team dropped a 3-2 decision on the road against Brownstown Central on Monday evening. The Olympians earned victories at second singles and first doubles, but the Braves secured the remaining three varsity spots to take the overall team win. Sophomore Kai Bergman recorded a win at second singles for the Olympians, overcoming Devyn Collins in a three-set match with scores of 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. In doubles play, the team of senior Trevor Ernst and freshman Ritvik Prithiviraj earned a straight-sets victory at first doubles, defeating Troy Isaacs and Carson Ferguson 6-2, 6-2. Brownstown Central picked up wins in the remaining varsity contests. At third singles, senior Micah Wettschurack won his opening set before falling to Charlie Blair 6-2, 0-6, 1-6. The second doubles pair of junior Carson Hartsook and freshman Drew Lawson pushed their match to three sets, coming up just short in a 4-6, 6-3, 4-6 battle against Klee Adams and Christian Nolan. At first singles, sophomore Landon Reddleman was defeated by Chase Brock 2-6, 4-6. In junior varsity doubles play, Columbus East collected two victories. Cooper Harry and Hadley McQueary earned an 8-5 win, while the team of Daniel Wallace and Daniel Nordyke swept their match 8-0.
