COLUMBUS, IN — In a tightly contested Hoosier Hills Conference showdown Monday evening at the CEHS Tennis Complex, the Columbus East varsity boys tennis team battled down to the wire before ultimately falling 3-2 to the visiting Bedford North Lawrence Stars. The Olympians showcased strong performances at the top of the singles lineup, but BNL managed to sweep both doubles slots and claim a key singles win to seal the team victory. Singles Highlights Sophomore Landon Reddleman delivered a resilient performance at No. 1 singles. Facing off against BNL's Laedon Jones, Reddleman fought back from an early first-set deficit to capture a tight tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5), before asserting control in the second set to seal a 7-6, 6-3 victory. At No. 2 singles, sophomore Kai Bergman put on a clinic. Bergman played flawless tennis from start to finish, cruising past Aden Ralston with a double-bagel 6-0, 6-0 sweep. BNL picked up its first point at No. 3 singles, with East senior Micah Wettschurack falling 6-1, 6-3. Doubles Action The outcome came down to razor-thin margins across the doubles courts. At No. 1 doubles, senior Trevor Ernst and freshman Ritvik Prithiviraj pushed BNL’s Jackson Corey and Asher Thompson to the limit, narrowly falling 6-4, 7-6 (7-2). At No. 2 doubles, junior Carson Hartsook and freshman Drew Lawson grabbed early momentum by taking the opening set 7-5 against Cruz Gomez and Riley Pruitt. However, the BNL duo rallied to take the final two sets 6-3, 6-1 to lock up the dual match victory. Coach's Corner: "BNL over East 3-2.
