FRANKLIN — The Columbus East volleyball team opened its fall season campaign Thursday evening on the road, falling 3-0 to Franklin Community High School in straight sets. The host squad took early control, holding off the Olympians in a 25-14, 25-21, 25-15 contest. Despite the opening-night setback, several key contributors delivered solid stat lines for East. Addy Dean powered the attack across the front and back line, recording four kills, two blocks, and a team-high three aces. Jillian Chapple facilitated the offense with eight assists while adding two blocks at the net. Kenlee Gault supplied dual-setter production by dishing out seven assists. Defensively, the Olympians established a strong blocking presence despite the loss, receiving two blocks apiece from Emma Armstrong and Riley Hawley. Hawley also made her presence felt on the attack, pounding down three kills. On the service line, Kadence Miller pitched in with two aces. Columbus East will look to rebound quickly as they return to action this Saturday. The Olympians head to Indianapolis to compete in the Bishop Chatard Invitational, with play set to begin at 9 a.m.
