COLUMBUS, Ind. — Defending home turf at the Richard Wigh Soccer Complex, the Columbus East boys soccer team picked up its first victory of the season in commanding fashion, shutting out visiting Lawrenceburg High School 3-0. From the opening kickoff, the Olympians established firm control of the pitch. Columbus East generated consistent pressure in the attacking third, outshooting the Tigers 8-3 across the contest. The offensive breakthrough was driven by clinical finishing from Ethan Glick and Blake Plummer, who combined for all three Olympian goals. Glick set the tone for the attack by netting an unassisted goal to put Columbus East in front early. In addition to his solo strike, Glick turned playmaker by setting up Plummer for a goal. Plummer capitalized on the service and went on to record a brace on the night, adding his second goal off a precise pass from Robby Orgass to round out the scoring. Defensively, Columbus East locked down the Tigers' counter-attacks and kept clean sightlines throughout the evening. Goalkeeper Ryder Meek delivered a flawless performance in net, turning away all 3 shots on goal to secure the team's first clean sheet of the fall campaign. With a comfortable lead established in the second half, Head Coach Nathan Cline utilized his squad depth, getting a significant number of players valuable varsity minutes on the pitch to close out the victory. The home victory marks a major momentum boost for the Olympians, who paired an unselfish, high-efficiency attack with a disciplined defensive display to capture their inaugural win of the season.
