COLUMBUS, IN — The Columbus East girls golf team hosted its lone 9-hole match of a grueling opening week on Thursday, welcoming Whiteland and Greenfield-Central to Greenbelt Golf Course. In a tight contest for second place, Greenfield-Central edged out the Olympians by just two strokes, finishing 266 to East’s 268. Whiteland claimed top honors in the triangular meet. Individual Highlights Senior Calleigh Gill set the pace for Columbus East, firing a team-low 47 to lead the squad. Abby King posted a strong 49, while Sofia Perez carded a 55. Emma Gill 57 and Brynn Wendel 58 rounded out the varsity scoring. The Olympians displayed flashes of sharp play throughout the afternoon, highlighted by birdie conversions from Calleigh Gill, Abby King, and Sofia Perez.
