BEDFORD, Ind. — The Columbus East Olympians girls golf team officially opened the 2026-27 high school sports season on Monday, taking on a highly competitive field at the Bloomington South Golf Invitational hosted at Stonecrest Golf Course. The Olympians placed 13th overall in their season debut. Center Grove captured the tournament championship, setting the pace with an impressive team score of 301. Castle secured the runner-up spot, shooting a 306, while Floyd Central rounded out the top three with a team total of 324. Abby King paced the Olympians on the individual leaderboard, putting together a solid opening round to lead the team with a 91. Calleigh Gill was next in the clubhouse for Columbus East, carding a 105, followed closely by Emma Gill who shot a 109. Sofia Perez and Brynn Wendel rounded out the scoring for the Olympians, turning in scores of 112 and 120, respectively, to complete the team's opening-day lineup. With the first match of the 2026-27 athletic season officially in the books, the Olympians will look to build on Monday's experience as they tee it up again this evening when they head Seymour, IN to compete in the Seymour HS Invitational at Shadowood GC.
