COLUMBUS, IN — The Columbus East Girls Tennis team is proving that they work just as hard in the classroom as they do on the court. The Olympians were recently named a 2026 Academic All-State Team, an honor that recognizes high school sports teams with excellent grades. To qualify for this state award, teams must maintain a cumulative grade point average that meets a high academic standard. The Columbus East team easily cleared that bar, finishing their season with an impressive Team GPA of over 4.0. Two Olympians Earn Individual Honors On top of the team's success, two players earned special recognition for their individual hard work. Congratulations to Lauren Degner and Bruna Carreira for making the Individual Academic All-State list. Getting this award takes a lot of time and dedication. Both student-athletes qualified by meeting two strict requirements: * Keeping up excellent GPAs throughout the school year. * Earning the high standardized test scores required for the award. Proud of Our Student-Athletes The success of the tennis program shows what being a true student-athlete is all about. These players are great examples of leaders who do their best in every area. "We are incredibly proud of these Olympians for representing Columbus East so well. They have set a great example of what it means to succeed both in school and in sports." Congratulations to the players, coaches, and teachers who helped the team reach this great goal! #GoEast #OlympianPride #StudentAthleteSuccess
