SEYMOUR HS — The Columbus East High School boys track and field team demonstrated some great performances at the Seymour Track & Field Invitation on Tuesday evening, April 28, 2026. Competing in a field featuring several Hoosier Hills Conference rivals, the Olympians secured a hard-fought 4th place team finish with 136 points, narrowly trailing conference foes Jennings County (156), Seymour (152), and Bedford North Lawrence (140). Relay Success The Olympians made an early statement on the track by winning the 4 x 100m relay. The quartet of Deonte Study, Trace Mulcahy, Blake Moss, and Keaton Lawson clocked a 44.21 to take 1st place. In other relay action: The 4 x 800m team of Norman Dickson, Elijah Clore, Lorren Westerfeld, and Maddox Hult earned a 2nd place finish with a time of 8:33.63. The 4 x 400m squad, featuring Luke Warren, Ryder Meek, Ethan Glick, and Deonte Study, rounded out the relays with a 3rd place podium finish in 3:35.89. Individual Track Highlights Senior Deonte Study had a busy and successful night, placing 2nd in the 100m dash (11.37) and 3rd in the 200m dash (23.25). He was supported in the 100m by teammates Blake Moss (3rd, 11.39), Keaton Lawson (5th, 11.44), and Caiden Talkington (6th, 11.53). In the hurdles, Luke Warren and Henry Eickmeyer provided a powerful one-two punch. Warren claimed 2nd place in both the 110m hurdles (16.34) and the 300m hurdles (41.94). Eickmeyer followed closely, taking 3rd in the 110m (16.55) and 4th in the 300m (42.54). Field Event Dominance The field events saw some of the Olympians' most dominant individual performances: High Jump: Keaton Lawson soared to 1st place with a jump of 6' 0", while Kairon Young secured 2nd at 5' 10". Long Jump: Kairon Young leaped 21' 3.5" for 2nd place, followed by Keaton Lawson in 3rd (19' 11.25") and Caiden Talkington in 5th (18' 8.5"). Throws: Cayden Smith led the throwers with a 3rd place in Shot Put (43' 9.5") and 4th in Discus (121' 9"). Evan Simo also placed 5th in the Discus with a mark of 116' 4".
