In a Hoosier Hills Conference clash on Thursday night, the Columbus East softball team secured a dramatic 5-4 victory over the visiting Seymour Owls at Olympian Field. The win was sealed in the final frame, as the Olympians showcased their resilience to move past their conference rivals. Early Deficit and Third-Inning Surge The Olympians found themselves trailing early after the Owls jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the top of the third inning. The Seventh-Inning Heroics After Seymour managed to tie the game in the sixth inning due to an error, the stage was set for a walk-off finish in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, the Olympians mounted a disciplined rally to load the bases: > Baleigh Fish started the threat with a single to right field. > Jacque Boroughs followed with a crucial walk. > Natasha Armstrong then beat out an infield single to fill every base. With the game on the line, Taylor Wessel came through with the decisive hit, lining a single to left field to drive in the winning run. Key Olympian Performances Columbus East relied on a balanced offensive attack and a complete-game effort in the circle to secure the win.
