COLUMBUS EAST HS — The spirit of competition was on full display Monday evening as Columbus East High School hosted its cross-town rival, Columbus North, for a Unified Track and Field meet. The Olympians fought for every inch, finishing with a team score of 293 to North's 357. Track Highlights: Sprint and Middle-Distance Resilience The Olympians captured several key victories and scoring positions on the track. In the 100 Meters, Phoenix Cooper secured a first-place finish in Section 3 with a time of 15.31. William Blake sprinted to a strong second-place finish in Section 4, clocking in at 13.34. She was followed closely by teammates Elliana Glick (2nd, 1:30.40) and Riley Hawley (3rd, 1:31.91). The middle-distance squad remained competitive with: Kolbi Stephenson: 4th Place, Section 1 (1:33.27) Gabrielle Albro: 4th Place, Section 2 (1:27.27) Bohdan Stein: 5th Place, Section 1 (1:54.14) John Tembo: 5th Place, Section 2 (1:27.88) Zander Anderson: 6th Place, Section 1 (1:54.86) Field Event Dominance: Pit and Ring Success Columbus East saw standout performances in the field, claiming several section titles. Giselle Landero Gonzalez leapt to victory in Section 1 of the Long Jump with a mark of 10' 0.5". William Blake also took the top spot in Section 2 with a jump of 11' 5". In the Girls 4x100m relay, the team of Mayleigh Hardwick, Giselle Landero Gonzalez, Zooey Joy, and Kolbi Stephenson took 3rd place with a time of 1:34.19. The Boys 4x100m relay saw East enter three squads: East (A): William Blake, Ethan Kessler, Phoenix Cooper, and Michael Larsen (2nd Place, 1:00.24) East (B): Lydia Whiteside, Marleigh Stidham, Bohdan Stein, and Eduardo Hernandez (4th Place, 1:28.67) East (C): Hunter Bokich, Jayden Holmes, Savannah Burton, and Adelynn Tembo (5th Place, 1:47.26) The night featured an Exhibition 4x200m relay, where Adam Stott, Jerik Hamilton, Mya Blanton, and Anna Myers teamed up for a 3:00.27 finish.
