The Columbus East girls tennis team engaged in a back-and-forth battle Monday evening, but despite a strong showing at the top of the lineup, the Olympians narrowly fell to the visiting Greensburg Pirates, 3-2. It was a tale of two halves at the Olympian Tennis Complex. East dominated the primary singles courts, showcasing both endurance and efficiency, while the Pirates found their rhythm to sweep the doubles and #3 singles slots. Match Highlights - The match of the night belonged to Lauren Degner at #1 singles. After splitting the first two sets, Degner showed incredible poise in the ten-point tiebreaker to secure a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 victory. Joining her in the win column was Olivia De Barro, who took care of business at #2 singles with a decisive 6-2, 6-3 performance. However, the Pirates proved too strong further down the card. Bruna Carreira fought hard at #3 singles but fell 1-6, 1-6. In doubles action, the pairs of Zoe White/Ava Tartt and Stefani Christopher/Saya Hauser both struggled to find a foothold against aggressive Greensburg duos, dropping their respective matches.
