The Columbus East boys volleyball team hosted Jeffersonville on Saturday morning for a Hoosier Hills Conference clash in the Orange Pit. The visiting Red Devils controlled the tempo throughout the morning, defeating the Olympians in straight sets. Final Score: Jeffersonville 3, Columbus East 0 Set Scores: 25-9, 25-14, 25-12 Match Flow The Red Devils opened the match with a dominant first set, winning 25-9. The Olympians found more footing in the second set, utilizing a long rally to take a mid-set lead. However, with the score at 11-10 in favor of East, a net violation handed the serve back to Jeffersonville. The Red Devils capitalized on the change in momentum, orchestrating a 13-point scoring run to pull away and take the set 25-14. Jeffersonville maintained that pressure through the third set to close out the match. Statistical Leaders Several Olympians contributed across the stat sheet while stepping into adjusted roles due to a short-handed roster: Jax Branaman: 3 kills, 5 assists, 1 ace Patrick Strickland: 4 blocks Jacob Thomas: 1 kill David Sylva: 1 kill (while also stepping in at setter) In addition to the offensive stats, the Olympians saw defensive adjustments with Kash Coers moving into the libero role for the match. Busy Week Ahead: Columbus East remains at home this week. They are scheduled to host the Whiteland Warriors on Monday evening, April 20th. First serve: 6 p.m. in the Orange Pit. Then host the Shelbyville Golden Bears, Tuesday April 21st at 6 p.m. , and then close out the week with a home match against the Bloomington North Cougars on Thursday, April 23 starting at 6:30 p.m.
