The Columbus East girls tennis team put up a fight at the Olympian Tennis Complex on Friday night, ultimately falling 3-2 in a close match against Trinity Lutheran. While the Cougars took the overall victory, the Olympians dominated the top of the singles lineup. Lauren Degner led the way at No. 1 singles, earning a decisive 6-3, 6-2 win. Following suit, Olivia De Barro delivered a stellar performance at No. 2 singles, prevailing 6-2, 6-0 to keep the Olympians in the hunt. Despite the strong start in singles, Trinity Lutheran managed to pull ahead by taking the final three matches: No. 3 Singles: Bruna Carreira fell 6-0, 6-0. No. 1 Doubles: Stefani Christopher and Zoe White lost 6-1, 6-1. No. 2 Doubles: Lilli Smith and Saya Hauser fell 6-0, 6-0. The Olympians now move to 1-5 on the season and will look to carry the momentum from their singles victories into their next match.
