SHELBYVILLE HS — The Columbus East track and field teams showcased their depth and speed on Tuesday night, securing a double victory in a tri-meet against Shelbyville and Southwestern Shelby High Schools. The Olympian boys delivered a commanding performance, racking up 99 points to outpace Shelbyville (53) and Southwestern (8). On the girls' side, East edged out a narrow victory in a hard-fought battle, finishing with 80 points to Shelbyville’s 76 and Southwestern’s 3. Boys Results: Speed and Power Propel East to 99 Points The Columbus East boys were nearly unstoppable in the sprint events. Deonte Study led the charge, claiming first place in both the 100 meters (11.33 seconds) and the 200 meters (23.30 seconds). The Olympians swept the top four spots in the 100m, with Blake Moss taking second (11.43), Keaton Lawson third (11.47), and Trace Mulcahy fourth (11.59). They were followed by Kairon Young in fifth (11.63), Brody Miller in sixth (11.77), and Robby Orgass in eighth (11.85). Also competing in the 100m were Caiden Talkington (11.98), Keegan Fields (12.04), Eli Nott (12.10), Austin Wedan (12.12), Miles Broaddus (12.13), Djifrantz Louissaint (12.69), Christian Austin (12.73), Eduardo Carvalho (12.88), Easton England-Cooney (12.99), and Jackson Belefsky (13.99). In the 200m, Keaton Lawson followed Study for a 1-2 finish with a time of 23.69 seconds. The deep field included Blake Moss in fifth (24.20), Graham Ritenour in 11th (24.88), Eli Nott in 12th (24.98), Ethan Glick in 13th (25.05), Robby Orgass in 14th (25.07), Austin Wedan in 15th (25.66), Canyon Long in 17th (26.11), Eduardo Carvalho in 20th (26.71), Djifrantz Louissaint in 21st (26.86), and Jackson Belefsky in 22nd (28.89). Ryder Meek took the crown in the 400 meters with a time of 55.38 seconds, while Graham Ritenour added a fifth-place finish in 59.79 seconds. In the hurdles, Henry Eickmeyer and Luke Warren provided a lethal 1-2 punch. Eickmeyer won the 300m hurdles (43.34) and took second in the 110m hurdles (16.67). Warren finished second in the 300m hurdles (44.43) and third in the 110m hurdles (16.76). Distance events were highlighted by Lorren Westerfeld, who won the 3200 meters in 11:30.35, closely followed by teammate Elijah Clore in second (11:35.92). Clore also earned second in the 1600 meters (4:55.87), where Cullen Fullerton placed fourth (5:18.90), Jayden Carter took 10th (6:12.21), and Emmett Armstrong finished 14th (6:40.25). In the 800 meters, Norman Dickson crossed the line first in 2:12.28, with Eli Ostrum in sixth (2:39.66) and Gabriel Barrera Lara in 10th (3:12.84). The 3200m field also included Eion Totten in seventh (14:27.02) and Levi Eickmeyer in ninth (15:20.67). In the field, Cayden Smith dominated the shot put with a winning throw of 42' 9" and took second in the discus (133' 5"). Ben Ledebuhr placed sixth in shot put (37' 5") and fourth in discus (114' 6"). Eli Wright was seventh in shot put (35' 7.5"), while Austin Wiley took 10th (30' 3.75"). In the discus, Evan Simo took third (130' 3"), Ethan Reinbold placed 12th (79' 8"), and Austin Wiley finished 14th (70' 7"). The jumpers were equally impressive. Kairon Young won the long jump (18' 10"), followed by Luke Warren in second (18' 9.5"), Miles Broaddus in third (18' 9"), and Graham Ritenour in fourth (18' 4"). Keegan Fields (18' 1"), Djifrantz Louissaint (17' 7"), and Austin Wedan (15' 4.5") also competed. Ryder Meek and Keaton Lawson shared first place in the high jump, both clearing 5' 8", while Ethan Glick tied for fifth at 5' 6". The East relay teams swept the gold, winning the 4x100m (45.31), 4x400m (3:47.88), and 4x800m (9:22.09). Additional relay entries saw the 4x100m "B" team take third (47.03) and the "C" team take fifth (48.22), while the 4x400m "B" team finished fifth (3:57.90). _________ Girls Results: Olympians Edge Out Shelbyville in 80-76 Thriller The Columbus East girls relied on key victories in the hurdles and field events to secure their four-point win over the host Golden Bears. Kai Scott was the star of the night, sweeping the hurdle events with wins in the 100m hurdles (17.16 seconds) and the 300m hurdles (51.26 seconds). Emma Tempest supported the effort with a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles (19.87) and a fourth-place finish in the 300m hurdles (1:00.28), while Ainsley Shaw grabbed second in the 300m hurdles (52.60). In the sprints, Claire Behnke sprinted to victory in the 100 meters with a time of 12.99 seconds. The deep lineup included Sophie Glick in fourth (13.27), Kiersten Collins in fifth (13.57), Kyleigh Dover in seventh (13.87), Meg Going in eighth (14.38), Ericka Ramirez in ninth (14.42), Selby Brown in 12th (14.62), Ava Jenkins in 13th (14.83), Kalia Scott in 14th (14.98), Braelei Ernest in 16th (15.10), and Amelia Ramirez in 18th (15.30). Sophie Glick led East in the 200 meters, taking third in 27.40 seconds. Other finishers included Kiersten Collins in seventh (28.90), Emma Tempest in eighth (29.72), Meg Going in ninth (30.19), Ericka Ramirez in 10th (30.38), Selby Brown in 12th (31.44), Kalia Scott in 13th (31.57), and Amelia Ramirez in 18th (33.40). Meg Going also earned a second-place finish in the 400 meters (1:08.66), followed by Kalia Scott in fourth (1:13.69) and Indee Pellegrino in fifth (1:14.03). Abigail Collins paced the distance squad, winning the 800 meters in 2:54.56 and taking second in the 1600 meters (6:43.48). Brooke Newell took third in the 800m (3:05.13), and Abigail Morales placed fifth (3:15.07). In the 1600m, Elizabeth Sztaba took third (6:43.59), Trinity Burns fourth (6:54.10), and Isabel Burbrink seventh (7:11.96). Burns also secured third in the 3200 meters (14:31.33), with Sztaba right behind in fourth (14:41.75). The Olympian throwers were led by Isabella Leonard, who swept the throwing events with wins in the shot put (30' 2") and discus (90' 6"). Azure Hartwell placed third in shot put (24' 5.5") and fifth in discus (69' 6"). Kiersten Collins took third in discus (84' 1"). Other shot put results included Ava Behnke in sixth (22' 6.5"), Ava Crissinger in seventh (22' 6.14"), Jocelyn Vogel in eighth (22' 1"), and Cassidy Cooney in 11th (20' 2.5"). In the discus, Jocelyn Vogel was sixth (68' 3"), Ava Crissinger was seventh (59' 9"), Ava Behnke was ninth (52' 2"), and Cassidy Cooney was 11th (50' 10"). In the jumps, Sophie Glick won the high jump by clearing 4' 10", while Indee Pellegrino took third at 4' 8". Kyleigh Dover added a victory in the long jump with a mark of 13' 11.75". The East girls' relay teams provided essential points, with the 4x800m (12:14.22), 4x100m (53.65), and 4x400m (4:36.40) all finishing in second place. The 4x100m "B" team added a fourth-place finish (59.27), and the 4x400m "B" team finished fifth (5:25.73).
