The postseason spotlight belonged to the Olympians Friday night as junior Bethany Lewis delivered a championship performance at the Franklin Central Sectional and senior Kai Scott earned her place in the next round. Competing against a deep field that included strong programs from Noblesville High School and Roncalli High School, the Olympians continued to show growth and resilience on the sectional stage at Franklin Central High School. Lewis rose to the moment, claiming the all-around championship with a 35.775. She captured the floor title with a 9.300, finished second on vault (9.050), and placed third on bars (8.825), while adding an 8.600 on beam. Her steady presence across all four events set the tone for East and secured her advancement to the regional round. Senior Kai Scott also punched her ticket to regionals with strong routines on beam (8.300) and floor (8.425), extending her postseason run and closing her sectional career with determination and poise. As a team, Columbus East finished sixth with a 92.000. The Olympians posted event totals of 24.500 on vault, 19.325 on bars, 22.675 on beam, and 25.500 on floor — highlighted by confident performances in the floor lineup that showcased the team’s energy and execution. Additional contributors for East included: Kalia Scott — 13.550 all-around Leigh Vandergriff — 11.050 all-around Ava Luedeke — 5.400 all-around While the team portion of the postseason concludes here, the experience gained under the bright lights of sectionals adds another building block for the program’s continued progress. Lewis and Scott will return to competition Friday, March 6 at the Franklin Central Regional (6:30 p.m. ET at The Gymnastics Company in Indianapolis). The top three teams and top three individuals in each event and the all-around not on a qualifying team will advance to the IHSAA State Finals on March 14 at Ball State. The Olympians may not have advanced as a full squad, but they leave sectionals with hardware, momentum, and two athletes ready to represent East on the next stage.
