The regular season came down to the wire Monday night for the Columbus East gymnastics team. Competing on the road at Seymour High School, the Olympians delivered a strong overall performance but came up just short in a 91.25–89.575 setback against the Owls. Despite the narrow team loss, East had the top individual gymnast in the gym. Bethany Lewis led the way by capturing the all-around championship. She turned in winning routines on both the uneven bars and balance beam, shared the top spot on vault, and added a runner-up finish on floor exercise to secure the all-around crown. Kai Scott also pieced together a steady night across all four events. She earned fourth-place finishes on bars and beam, placed fifth on floor, and tied for sixth on vault. Her consistent scores added up to a fourth-place finish in the all-around standings. Kalia Scott contributed key points as well, placing fifth in the floor exercise and sixth on the bars to help keep the Olympians within striking distance throughout the meet. With the regular season now complete, East shifts its focus to the postseason. The Olympians will compete in the IHSAA Gymnastics Sectional this Friday at The Gymnastics Company in Indianapolis. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., as the Olympians look to extend their season and build on the momentum from a competitive regular-season finale. Good luck O's!!
