Olympians Edge Out Rushville for First Win of the Season Rushville High School - The Columbus East gymnastics team finally broke into the win column last night, narrowly defeating the host Rushville Lions 85.8 to 85.3. The victory came at the end of a back-to-back home and away stretch for the Olympians, who managed to stay just five-tenths of a point ahead of the Lions to secure the result. Individual Scoring Breakdown While the team score remained tight, Bethany Lewis provided the bulk of the Olympians' production by sweeping the individual events. Lewis took first place on vault, bars, beam, and floor, finishing the night with an all-around total of 33.8. Several other Olympians contributed to the team total to keep Rushville at bay: Kai Scott: 2nd on Floor (8.15) and 5th in the All-Around (25.725). Kalia Scott: 3rd on Beam (6.35). Ava Luedeke: 5th on Bars (5.45). One Final Tune-Up Before Sectionals The Olympians have one regular-season meet remaining on the schedule, traveling to Seymour High School this Monday, February 23rd. With the postseason looming, the Seymour meet serves as a final opportunity to experiment with routines. The team is expected to use the night to tweak specific elements or test out new material in a competitive setting before the stakes rise. Following the Monday finale, the focus shifts to the IHSAA Sectional meet. Hosted by Franklin Central High School, the tournament action is set to begin on Friday, February 27th, at 6:30 pm ET.
