The Columbus East gymnastics team welcomed the Edgewood Mustangs to the Orange Pit on Monday night, marking a significant milestone for the Olympians' season. For the first time this year, East was able to field a complete varsity lineup, though the visiting Mustangs ultimately secured the victory with a team score of 99.2 to the Olympians' 89.8. Standout Performances Despite the team loss, junior Bethany Lewis continued her dominant season by claiming the all-around title. Lewis showed consistency across all apparatuses, taking first place in three out of four events: Uneven Bars: 8.6 Balance Beam: 8.8 Floor Exercise: 9.0 Vault: 8.45 (3rd Place) All-Around Total: 34.85 Other notable contributions came from Kai Scott, who earned a podium spot on the floor exercise with a score of 8.35, contributing to an all-around total of 29.25. Ava Luedeke also completed the all-around circuit for the Olympians, finishing with a score of 25.7. Looking Ahead The Olympians have a full schedule as they prepare for the postseason. The team immediately hits the road for a meet at Rushville tonight(2/17), followed by a final regular-season trip to Seymour High School on February 23rd. All eyes are currently on the Franklin Central Sectional, scheduled for February 27th. With a full roster finally intact, the team will use these final regular-season rotations to refine their routines and increase their scoring potential before the win-or-go-home sectional round begins next Friday.
