The Columbus East boys freshman basketball team kept rolling over the weekend, steamrolling Bloomington North with a convincing 50–22 victory. The young Olympians set the tone early, jumping out to a 13–5 lead after the first quarter. From there, East turned defense into offense, erupting for a 22-point second quarter fueled by relentless pressure and energy on both ends of the floor. Frank Phillips and Parker Jones led the offensive charge with 11 and 10 points respectively in the first half, while Eric Kiel controlled the glass and anchored the interior. The result was a commanding 35–10 lead for the Olympians at the break. The momentum never slowed coming out of halftime. East continued to apply pressure in the third quarter, stretching the advantage to 47–15 by the end of the period. Depth and balance were on full display as all 14 Olympians played at least one full quarter, and nine different players found the scoring column. Columbus East closed out the night with a 50–22 win, extending its winning streak to three games. Parker Jones led all scorers with 12 points, followed by Frank Phillips with 11. Jakobi Noble and Jayden Wilcox added six points each, Eric Kiel chipped in five, Luke Lienhoop scored four, and Dane Hoopingarner, Owen Hatfield, and Cooper Koons each finished with two. The Young Olympians improve to 8–5 on the season and return to action Thursday, February 5, when they travel to Brownstown Central for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
