JV Olympians Battle State Powers, Finish 4th at Warren Central JV State Duals With a winter storm looming and many events wiped off the schedule, the Columbus East JV boys wrestling team was one of the fortunate programs able to compete Saturday, making the most of the opportunity at the Warren Central JV State Duals. Hosted by Warren Central High School, the event featured 17 of the top JV wrestling programs in Indiana. The Olympians proved they belonged on that stage, finishing fourth overall after a demanding day against some of the state’s premier programs. Columbus East opened the tournament with a strong quarterfinal performance, defeating Franklin Community 40–27. The Olympians then ran into a buzzsaw in the semifinal round, falling 44–27 to Brownsburg, widely regarded as the top wrestling program in the state and the eventual JV State champions. In the third-place match, East faced another powerhouse in Center Grove, the state’s current No. 3-ranked program, and dropped a 44–21 decision to close out the day. Several Olympians finished the day with winning records while competing against top-tier JV competition. Mason Eubanks turned in a flawless performance, going 3–0 on the day, including wins over Franklin Community, Brownsburg, and Center Grove. Henry Eickmeyer posted a strong 2–1 record, picking up key victories in the quarterfinal and consolation rounds. Draven Day also finished 2–1, earning bonus-point wins earlier in the tournament before facing elite competition late. Brian Findley was unbeaten on the day as well, going 2–0 in his matches and providing valuable points for the Olympians in critical duals. Competing head-to-head with Indiana’s best JV programs, Columbus East showed toughness, depth, and growth, finishing just one spot shy of the podium. A fourth-place finish at a tournament of this caliber speaks volumes. More importantly, the experience gained wrestling state-level competition will pay dividends moving forward. Great job, Olympians.
