The Columbus East girls wrestling team put together a solid overall showing Saturday at the IHSAA Girls Wrestling Regional hosted by Bloomington South High School, finishing fifth in the team standings with 86 points. Whiteland Community claimed the regional title with 203 points, followed by Franklin Community (116), Mooresville (103), and host Bloomington South (100.5). Columbus East’s depth across multiple weight classes helped the Olympians stay competitive throughout the day. Freshman Annabelle Redman delivered the highlight performance for the Olympians, capturing the regional championship at 170 pounds. Redman went 4-0 on the day and closed her run with an impressive 7-1 decision in the finals, marking a major milestone in her first postseason run. Tienica Dits also had a strong tournament at 105 pounds, advancing to the championship match and earning a runner-up finish. Dits reached the final after a pair of decisive wins before falling in the title bout, securing her spot among the top performers of the day. At 235 pounds, Kaydence Spradlin battled her way to a third-place finish. Spradlin rebounded from a semifinal loss to win the third-place match by forfeit, adding valuable team points and continuing her steady postseason progress. Gloria Cloud placed fourth at 120 pounds after reaching the semifinals, while Issabel Wakefield (155) and Kyleigh Traylor (190) each picked up opening-round victories before exiting in the quarterfinals. Both contributed to the team score despite falling short of a podium finish. With multiple top-four finishes and several wrestlers competing deep into the bracket, the Olympians showed growth and resilience against a strong regional field. The performance capped a productive postseason step for Columbus East as several athletes move on to the next stage of competition at the state level. The IHSAA Girls Wrestling State Finals are scheduled for Friday, January 16, at Corteva Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, with wrestling set to begin at 10 a.m.
