The Columbus East JV girls basketball team took care of business Thursday night at Seymour, pulling away early and never letting up in a convincing 53–28 victory over the Owls. It was a true team performance from start to finish. Eleven Olympians found the scoring column, a clear sign of unselfish play and steady execution on both ends of the floor. Madison Gourley set the tone offensively, leading all scorers with 10 points. Four more Olympians chipped in six points apiece—Madelyn Tapp, Mia Petro, Brooke Moss, and Allison Halstead—giving East consistent scoring depth throughout the night. Bailey Rhode added five points, while Emma Armstrong and Taylor Parker each contributed four. Jayley Smiley, Janytzi Padilla Ojeda, and Renata Montoya Gonzalez rounded out the scoring with two points each. Columbus East jumped out fast, outscoring Seymour 18–4 in the opening quarter and building a 32–10 halftime lead after another strong second quarter. While the Owls made a push in the third, the Olympians stayed composed and closed the game with a decisive 14-point fourth quarter. Quarter-by-quarter scoring showed East’s control: Columbus East: 18, 14, 7, 14 Seymour: 4, 6, 11, 7 This was a complete effort—energy, defense, and balance—all clicking at the right time. The JV Olympians continue to show growth, depth, and confidence as the season moves forward.
