Saturday’s Greenwood Woodmen Holiday Tournament served more as a reset point than a red flag for the Columbus East boys basketball team. The Olympians dropped a pair of games, falling to host Greenwood 55–46 and Yorktown 52–39, but the bigger picture remains about finding flow after an unusual start to the season. Columbus East had not played since Friday, December 19, and with two early-season games canceled due to weather and a long holiday break, live game opportunities have been limited. That lack of consistent action has made it difficult to establish timing, continuity, and on-court chemistry—things that simply develop by playing games, not practicing. The path forward is straightforward: keep playing and keep building. The Olympians return to the Orange Pit on Tuesday, January 6, hosting Franklin Community in a snow make-up game originally scheduled for December 13. Junior varsity tips off at 6 p.m., with the varsity game to follow, as Columbus East looks to settle into a steady season rhythm.
