Friday’s action at the 47th Annual Al Smith Wrestling Invitational at Mishawaka High School is officially in the books, and the Columbus East boys wrestling team heads into placement day very much in the mix. After late-session results were finalized, the Olympians climbed into a tie for 4th place with 110 points, showcasing depth and resilience in one of Indiana’s toughest midseason tournaments. Team Standings After Friday Crown Point – 175.5 Center Grove – 167 Bloomington South – 112 Columbus East – 110 Cathedral – 110 Garrett – 109.5 With the standings tightly packed from third through sixth, Saturday’s placement rounds loom large, and Columbus East will have multiple opportunities to make a statement. Olympians Still Battling on Saturday Caleb Kirkpatrick (150 lbs) – competing for 3rd place Caleb Cooper (157 lbs) – clawing his way back, in the hunt for 3rd Aiden Miller (165 lbs) – still alive for 3rd place Lincoln Cooper (175 lbs) – semifinals, hunting a championship Colin McMahon (190 lbs) – semifinals, chasing a title Clayton Miller (215 lbs) – still competing for 3rd place Hank Redman (285 lbs) – has a shot at 3rd place Saturday will be all about execution—finishing matches, earning placements, and stacking points in a crowded team race.
