There was no Christmas slumber for the Columbus East JV boys wrestling team Saturday morning, and it showed. The JV Olympians stormed through the New Albany JV Christmas Invitational, emerging as team champions in a performance that was equal parts depth, toughness, and consistency. Columbus East crowned six individual champions and added four runner-up finishes, stacking points across the lineup and separating themselves from the field. Simply put, it was an awesome day on the mats for the Olympians. Leading the charge were Colton Foster (5-0), Mason Eubanks (5-0), Draven Day (4-0), Henry Eickmeyer (4-0), Kade Stephens (4-0), and Ty Brueche (4-0), each battling their way to first-place finishes and setting the tone for the entire tournament. Four more Olympians reached the finals and finished second: Miles Harvey (3-1), Will Cochran (4-1), Jayden Dehart (3-1), and Henry McMahon (4-1), further cementing East’s grip on the team race. Strong supporting performances filled out the lineup and proved the Olympians’ depth: Kohl Dorrough (4-1) – 3rd Mario Mota (2-2) – 3rd Brady Cleary (4-1) – 3rd Ethan Gilley (4-1) – 3rd Austin Ruse (3-1) – 3rd Adam Dye (2-1) – 5th Owen Gilley (3-2) – 6th Bentley Newman (4-1) – 7th Carter Anliker (3-2) – 8th From top to bottom, the JV Olympians competed with purpose, backed each other up, and made a clear statement heading into the heart of the season. This wasn’t just a tournament win — it was a reminder that Columbus East’s future on the mats is very bright. The JV Olympians have a few days of rest and practice before they take the mat again in 2026, when they face another tough opponent, when they travel to Cathedral High School to face the Irish on Tuesday, January 6th. Wrestling begins at 6:30 p.m.
