The Columbus East girls wrestling team made the trip to Franklin Community on Tuesday night and faced one of the state’s top programs. In a dual that featured just six contested matches, the Olympians battled but came up short, falling 24–12 to the No. 7-ranked Grizzly Cubs. Franklin Community built its advantage with three wins by fall, picking up pins at 140, 170, and 115 pounds to control the team score in a meet where every bout carried added importance. Columbus East answered with two decisive victories of its own. Junior Tienica Dits earned a fall at 105 pounds, stopping Franklin’s Ella Keller to put the Olympians on the board. Freshman Gloria Cloud followed with the quickest result of the night, pinning her opponent in just eight seconds at 125 pounds. While the final score favored the hosts, the Olympians gained valuable mat time against elite competition. Facing a state-ranked opponent on the road provided a strong test for the Olympians.
