The Columbus East girls wrestling team made the trip south to Jeffersonville High School on Saturday morning and delivered one of its strongest tournament performances of the season, battling through a deep field to earn a second-place team finish at the Jeffersonville Classic. Despite being undermanned against several fully loaded programs, the Olympians showed grit from start to finish, piling up 169 team points to secure runner-up honors behind champion Mooresville. Moore County, Kentucky rounded out the top three, while East finished ahead of a long list of established programs from across Indiana and Kentucky. What separated Columbus East from the pack was top-end production. The Olympians crowned five individual champions, a statement performance in a tournament that featured more than 20 teams. 105 – Tienica Dits went a perfect 4-0 on the day, closing her run with a decisive finals victory to claim the title. 125 – Gloria Cloud continued her standout freshman campaign, finishing 3-0 and capturing gold. 155 – Izzy Wakefield dominated her bracket, going 3-0 with a championship win. 170 – Annie Redman matched that effort, also finishing 3-0 to take first place. Columbus East added valuable points throughout the lineup. Kaydence Spradlin powered her way to a runner-up finish at 235 pounds, while Luci Morales wrestled back for a fifth-place result at 130. Ashlee Manis placed sixth at 190, and Dulce Santiago finished eighth at 120 after grinding through the consolation rounds. The depth of the Olympians’ effort was evident even beyond the scoring lineup, with multiple wrestlers advancing deep into the bracket and winning key matches against regional competition. In a tournament that tested depth, toughness, and endurance, Columbus East checked every box. Walking away with a runner-up trophy while shorthanded sends a clear message: the Olympians aren’t just competitive—they’re building something formidable. One more before Sectionals: The Olympians have one more dual, at Franklin Community on Tuesday, December 23rd, before IHSAA Sectionals start on Friday, January 2nd at Indian Creek High School. Finish strong O's!!
