East Wrestling Invitational Returns Saturday, December 20

The Columbus East wrestling team will host its annual East Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, December 20, welcoming a deep and competitive field to East High School for a full day of varsity wrestling action. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and will take place in both the main and auxiliary gyms. Event Details Event: Columbus East Varsity Wrestling Invitational Date: Saturday, December 20 Start Time: 9:00 a.m. Location: Columbus East High School (Main & Aux Gyms) Participating Schools Cascade, Cathedral V2, Edgewood, Fishers, Madison, Monrovia, Mt. Vernon (Fortville), North Knox, Paoli, Plainfield, Salem, South Dearborn, South Putnam, Switzerland County, Tecumseh, Terre Haute South, Columbus East V1, and Columbus East V2. Admission $7 cash at the door Digital ticket with QR code Tickets may also be purchased online at ceolympians.com Entrance & Parking Information Team Drop-Off & Locker Rooms: Teams should enter through the Main Athletic Entrance (Door #48) on the south end of the school. Two locker rooms will be available for changing and showering. Doors open at 7:15 a.m. Athletes are encouraged not to leave valuables unattended. Spectator Entrance: All fans should enter through Door #48. Handicap-accessible parking and a ramp are available at this entrance, with an accessible door on the far left. An elevator is located near the ticket booth for additional access needs. Parking map attached. Schedule Weigh-Ins: 8:00 a.m. (Main Gym) Wrestling Begins: 9:00 a.m. (Main & Aux Gyms) Tournament Format 16-man bracketed tournament per weight class Full wrestle-backs to 3rd place, placing through 8th Goal of full 16-man brackets in each weight Non-scoring JV wrestlers may be added if brackets are short Mats 1–4 (Main Gym): 106–165 lbs Mats 5–6 (Aux Gym): 175–285 lbs All placement matches will be wrestled in the Main Gym Seeding Information Seeding will be conducted by Joe Caprino and Mike Reiser of IndianaMat. Each weight class will seed 4–6 wrestlers using: 2024 IHSAA tournament advancement Head-to-head results IndianaMat rankings 2024 middle school state placement (for 9th graders) Wrestlers will not be seeded by record alone. Awards Team Championship Trophy Bracket boards for individual weight-class champions Outstanding Wrestler Award (Pin Chain) The East Wrestling Invitational consistently delivers high-level competition and an energetic atmosphere. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, settle in, and enjoy a full day of outstanding high school wrestling in the Orange Pit.
