The Columbus East boys wrestling team brought two squads to Saturday morning’s Falcon Duals at Perry Meridian High School, and while the weather ultimately won the day, the Olympians still put together a productive showing before snow forced an early cancellation. With forecasts calling for 4–6 inches beginning mid-afternoon, tournament officials shut things down early. Columbus East was able to complete three rounds of wrestling before the decision was made. In those completed rounds, Columbus East earned team victories over Carmel and Evansville North. The Olympians defeated Carmel’s Varsity 2 squad, 66–10, followed by a 56–13 win over Carmel’s Varsity 1 team, and a decisive 72–6 victory over Evansville North. Individually, Columbus East saw strong starts across the lineup. Undefeated on the day at 3–0 were Joel Smith (106), Kohl Dorrough (113), Ethan Poling (132), Cam Cooper (144), Caleb Kirkpatrick (150), Aiden Miller (165), Lincoln Cooper (175), Colin McMahon (190), Clayton Miller (215), and Hank Redman (285). Ty Brueche (126) went 2–1, while Caleb Cooper went 2-0(157) and Mason Eubanks 1-0 (157). Brian Findley 1-2 (138) and Gage Pacek 0-3 (120) gained valuable mat time in competitive bouts. Columbus East’s Varsity 2 team also squeezed in one completed dual, falling to Carmel V2 by a narrow 32–28 margin. Individual winners for the Olympians in that matchup were Mason Eubanks, Ethan Gilley, Henry Eickmeyer, Jayden Dehart, Wyatt Behnke, Colton Foster, Adam Dye and Austin Ruse. While the snow cut the event short, the morning still provided meaningful competition and momentum for the Olympians as the season continues. Columbus East returns to action on Wednesday, December 17, when the Olympians head across town to face rival Columbus North. JV wrestling begins at 6:30 p.m., with the varsity match to follow at Columbus North High School.
