Columbus East’s boys and girls swim teams traveled to Jennings County on Monday for a conference dual, coming away with a tough pair of losses. The boys fell 86–71, and the girls were defeated 123–15. Boys Meet The Olympians picked up a few solid swims throughout the night. Josh Pendleton led the boys with wins in both the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Mason Bean added a victory in the 200 individual medley. East also earned first place in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay, giving the squad several highlight moments in an otherwise difficult meet. Girls Meet With a smaller roster, the East girls found most of their success in individual events. Savannah Burton turned in second-place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and Baylee Benefield added a runner-up spot in the 100 breaststroke. Both teams continue working through early-season challenges, competing hard despite limited numbers. The swims they did collect served as the main bright spots from Monday’s road trip.
