The Columbus East boys freshman basketball team had to earn every inch Tuesday night, battling through offensive struggles to secure a hard-fought 28–20 win over Trinity Lutheran. While points were tough to come by, East’s defensive intensity never wavered—and that edge made all the difference. The young O’s set the tone early, allowing just two points in the opening quarter and holding the Cougars to only eight in the first half. That stingy effort helped East take a 13–8 lead into the break and maintain control the rest of the way. Offensively, East spread production across the roster once again. All 14 players saw the floor, and nine chipped in points. Jakobi Noble led the way with seven, followed closely by Frank Phillips with six. The O’s also flexed their strength on the boards: Gavin Wilcox and Eric Kiel each hauled in seven rebounds, and Luke Lienhoop added five. Scoring Summary Jakobi Noble – 7 Frank Phillips – 6 Gavin Wilcox – 3 Eric Kiel – 3 Dane Hoopingarner – 2 Parker Jones – 2 Camden Kibler – 2 Tucker Day – 2 Luke Lienhoop – 1 The Olympians now turn their attention to a road matchup on Friday, December 12th against the Bedford North-Lawrence Stars(6 p.m.), followed by a home showdown on Saturday the 13th with Franklin Community H.S.(6 p.m.)
