The Columbus East girls basketball team stepped into the Thanksgiving break on a high note Tuesday night, turning in a sharp, businesslike 60–29 victory over visiting South Decatur in the Orange Pit. East came out focused from the opening tip, setting the tone with a 20–3 first quarter and building a 32–11 lead by halftime. The Olympians’ defensive energy carried them throughout the night, creating transition chances and keeping the Cougars from finding much rhythm. Ella Anthis led the scoring effort with 15 points, including three threes. Hayden Meek followed closely with 14 points, while Allison Halstead added 10 with a pair of triples. Krea Martin scored 6, Brelyn Poole finished with 5, and both Lola Watkins and London Cline contributed 4 points apiece. Bailey Rhode rounded out the scoring with 2. By quarters, the Olympians steadily pulled away: **20, 32, 50, 60**, while South Decatur kept competing to the finish with quarter totals of **3, 11, 20, 29**. It was the kind of outing every team hopes for heading into a short break—clean execution, balanced scoring, and a chance to build momentum. East now gets a few days to recharge before returning to action on December 2nd with a road trip to Trinity Lutheran. A solid win, a good step forward, and a promising way to head into the holiday.
