The Columbus East boys JV wrestling team opened its season on Saturday at the Jennings County Reserve Invitational, sending 24 wrestlers into early-season action and walking away with a long list of strong individual showings. For a first outing, the Olympians showed plenty of fight, plenty of depth, and a promising foundation for the winter ahead. East’s biggest win total came from Draven Day (157), who powered his way to a 4–0 record and set the tone in the middle weights. The Olympians also collected a wave of undefeated performances across several divisions: Gage Pacek (120) – 3–0 Bentley Newman (132) – 3–0 Colton Foster (138) – 3–0 Carter Anliker (138) – 2–0 Zack Lucas (138) – 3–0 Wyatt Behnke (144) – 3–0 Will Cochran (144) – 3–0 Jayden Dehart (150) – 3–0 Mason Eubanks (157) – 3–0 Max Perry (165) – 3–0 Mario Mota (165) – 3–0 Henry Eickmeyer (175) – 3–0 Brady Cleary (190) – 3–0 Adam Dye (190) – 3–0 Several others logged winning records or navigated deep brackets with grit: Eli Dykstra (165) – 1–2 Owen Gilley (175) – 2–1 Ethan Gilley (215) – 2–1 Austin Ruse (285) – 2–1 Young and developing wrestlers gained meaningful reps, including: Kohl Dorrough (113) – 0–3 Karter Douglas (120) – 0–3 Treshaun Robinson (120) – 1–2 Miles Harvey (132) – 2–1 Caseon Vandiver (157) – 0–3 Kyler Schadenfroh (175) – Did not compete Henry McMahon (190) – Did not compete For a first competition of the season — and for several wrestlers, a first-ever high school tournament — the Olympians left with a pile of wins, a handful of breakthrough performances, and a clear sense of where the next steps lie. With 24 athletes already logging match experience, East enters early season with momentum and depth that should continue to pay off as the varsity and JV schedules intensify. The JV squad will hit the mats again when they host the Whiteland Warriors on Wednesday, November 26th in the Orange Pit starting at 6:30 p.m.
