Columbus East made the midweek trip to St. Leon on Wednesday night and came out swinging, but East Central’s second-half surge proved too much as the Olympians fell 55–27. For a quarter and change, East looked poised to make it a fight. The Olympians matched the Trojans shot for shot in the opening eight minutes, tied 8–8 after one, and even nudged ahead 11–10 early in the second. But once East Central strung together a run, the momentum flipped hard. The Trojans closed the half on a strong push and carried a 22–15 advantage into the locker room. Out of halftime, East Central hit the gas and never let off. A 15-0 burst to open the third quarter buried any chance of an Olympian comeback, and the Trojans controlled the rest of the night. Kenzie Cheek led East with 9 points, grinding out offense when possessions got tough. London Cline provided a spark late, tossing in 7 points in the fourth quarter. Lola Watkins, Ella Anthis, and Brelyn Poole each added 3, and Bailey Rhode chipped in 2. Columbus East moves to 2–3 on the season. The Olympians showed a few bright moments early, but East Central’s pressure and pace took control as the game went on. With several tough opponents still ahead, East will look to keep learning from these nights and settle into a rhythm as the season continues. The O's are back in action when they welcome the Mooresville Pioneers Friday night in the Orange Pit. JV tip-off is at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game. Let's Go O's!!
