The Columbus East girls wrestling team walked into Broad Ripple High School on Saturday knowing they’d be tested. Thirty-six teams. State-level talent everywhere. No easy rounds. And the Olympians didn’t blink. Instead, they fought their way to an impressive 4th-place finish at the 2025 Purdue Polytechnic Girls Wrestling Invitational, stacking up 146 team points against one of the toughest fields they’ll see all season. Franklin Community (219), New Palestine (194), and Hamilton Southeastern (148) took the top three spots, but East was right on their heels— deep, grinding early season tournament. Columbus East’s strength came from several big individual podium runs: Gloria Cloud (125) – Champion – 32 pts Cloud was unstoppable from the opening whistle. She powered her way through the bracket and claimed the 125-pound title, giving East its lone individual championship of the day. Tienica Dits (105) – Runner-Up – 20 pts Dits wrestled with poise all afternoon, earning a trip to the finals and finishing with a strong second-place performance. Annabelle Redman (170) – Runner-Up – 28 pts Redman delivered one of the grittiest performances of the tournament, muscling her way to the championship match and locking down a big point total for the team. Kaydence Spradlin (235) – Runner-Up – 26 pts Spradlin’s path to the finals was full of heavy hitters, but she kept responding, round after round, on her way to a silver finish. Kyleigh Traylor (190) – 3rd Place – 20 pts Traylor battled back through the placement rounds after a tough loss and finished strong with a third-place medal. Issabel Wakefield (155A) – 4th Place – 20 pts Wakefield fought her way deep into the bracket, securing a podium finish and valuable team points. Other contributors included Elle Bliton (235) – 8 pts, while Abby Morales (100), Dulce Santiago Rosas (120), and Lia Tomlinson (110) all competed hard despite not placing in their brackets. Finishing fourth in this field is no small achievement. The Olympians showed depth, toughness, and the kind of competitive edge that helps early season confidence! If Saturday is any indication, this group is nowhere near its ceiling—and they’re only getting stronger. Great work O's! The Olympians get to host another home dual, this time they welcome the Bloomington South Panthers, Thursday, November 20th in the Orange Pit. Match start time is slated for 7 p.m. Let's Go O's!
