Overtime Effort Lifts Olympians Past Whiteland for First Win

The Columbus East girls basketball team showed early-season toughness on Saturday evening, rallying late and then dominating the extra period to earn a 57-49 road win over the Whiteland Warriors. The Olympians trailed 23-20 at the half but clawed their way back to even the score by the end of regulation. East then took full control in overtime, outscoring the Warriors 8-0 to secure their first victory of the season. Senior Kenzie Cheek led a balanced East attack with 11 points. Brelyn Pool followed with 10, while Lola Watkins, Ella Anthis, and freshman Bailey Rohde each contributed 9. Additional scoring: Frosh Hayden Meek chipped in six points and Averie Graham added three points. The win gave Columbus East some early momentum heading into this weeks home game against the Roncalli Royals on Tuesday, November 11th. JV start time 6 p.m., varsity game to follow.
